Moose in the Morning
small text
large text
Kidney Pond, Maine — We're under the shadow of Katahdin, a mountain that rises 4,000 feet from the surrounding flatland and "deep within the hostile ranks of clouds," as described by Henry David Thoreau. We witness the activities of Kidney Pond. A mother moose is grazing beneath the pond's surface, while her restless and playful calf stands on the shore. Piercing sunlight captures the real-time wisps over the mountain summit, while ducks float and a white-tailed deer looks over the watery scene. Eventually, a bull moose swims across the stillness, emerges and shakes.
