Overlooking Golden Gate Park, California — Tai Chi practitioners silently gather in formation above the San Francisco Bay. In unison their slow movements seem to stir the city awake. The climbing sun's amber glow warms the horizon of the cityscape, a last stop before the sun sweeps across the vast Pacific Ocean, heading for the international dateline and a new day in now-darkened Asia. Cargo ships slip beneath the Golden Gate Bridge as the first commuters trickle into the city.
