Yellowstone Geysers
small text
large text
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming — The early darkness of Black Sands Geyser Basin yields to light, water and steam emerging from the earth and filling the basins' stream. Farther along the valley we overlook the Firehole River and Midway Geyser Basin, once described as "hell's half acre" by Rudyard Kipling. Our next vantage point in this geological drama is the Lower Geyser Basin, where we track a morning lightening storm in the distance, bubbling pink paint pots, and a small spouting geyser named after a Greek water clock. Lastly, we're alongside the Grotto of the Upper Geyser Basin and the spectacle of the Riverside Geyser shooting water over 70 feet towards the sun.
